Our Process

How Our Flooring Installation Works

No mystery, no pressure. Here's exactly what to expect when you hire us — from the free estimate to the day you walk on your new floor.

A new floor is a real investment, and the process shouldn’t be a black box. We keep it straightforward and honest from the first phone call: we tell you what your floor needs, what it will cost, and what to expect on install day — then we do exactly that.

Every project is a little different, but the path from estimate to finished floor follows the same steps. Here’s how it goes.

Step by Step

From First Call to Finished Floor

  1. Free In-Home Estimate

We come to you, measure the space, look at the subfloor, and talk through your goals and budget. You get an honest, itemized quote — no pressure, no vanishing fine print. This is also where we flag anything the floor will need before install, like moisture testing or leveling, so there are no demo-day surprises.

  2. Product Selection

We help you choose the right material for how each room is actually used and how it will behave in Idaho's climate — bringing samples and steering you toward options at the price point that fits. We would rather talk you out of the wrong floor than sell you one that fails.

  3. Scheduling & Prep

We lock a start date and prepare the site: protecting your home, moving what needs moving, and removing old flooring where required. Subfloor prep — flattening, moisture mitigation on slabs, squeak repair — happens here, because a floor lasts or fails from below.

  4. Acclimation (When It Matters)

For solid and engineered wood, we let the material acclimate to your home's real conditions before a single board goes down. In Idaho's dry, forced-air winters this step is non-negotiable — it's the difference between a floor that stays tight and one that gaps in January.

  5. Installation

Our crew installs to the manufacturer's spec and to your layout — direction, pattern, and transitions done deliberately. We contain dust, clean up daily, and treat your home like people still live in it, because you do.

  6. Walkthrough & Warranty

We walk the finished floor with you, handle any punch-list items, and leave you with care guidance and our workmanship warranty. If a question comes up later, you call the people who did the work — not a call center.

Why It's Different With Us

What You Can Count On

Honest Assessments

If a refinish will save your existing hardwood, we'll say so. If a floor is fine and your money belongs elsewhere, we'll say that too.

Subfloor Done Right

Moisture testing, flattening, and prep are in the scope up front — not discovered as a change order after demo.

Idaho-Specific Method

Acclimation, humidity guidance, and slab moisture control matched to our high-desert climate, not a generic playbook.

One Accountable Team

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a flooring installation take?

It depends on the material, square footage, and prep needed. A single room can be a day or two; a whole-home hard-surface project runs longer, especially with tear-out, subfloor work, or wood acclimation built in. We give you a realistic timeline in the estimate and hold to it.

Do I need to move my furniture?

We handle the plan for it. For most projects we can move furniture as part of the job; we'll confirm what that looks like during the estimate so nothing is a surprise on start day.

What is acclimation and do I really need it?

Acclimation is letting wood flooring adjust to your home's real temperature and humidity before installation. In Idaho's dry winters it's essential for solid and engineered wood — skipping it is a leading cause of gaps and cupping. We build the time in rather than rushing it.

Can you install over my existing floor?

Sometimes — if the existing floor is sound, flat, and appropriate to go over, it can save on tear-out. Often it's better to remove it. We'll assess honestly and tell you which situation you're in rather than defaulting to whatever is easiest.
