FAQ
Estimates & Cost
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — every estimate is free and in-home, with no obligation. Call (208) 779-4248 or request a free estimate online and we'll measure your space, check the subfloor, and give you an honest, itemized quote.
How much does new flooring cost?
It depends far more on material, square footage, and subfloor condition than on any flat per-foot number. Laminate and sheet vinyl sit at the affordable end; LVP and carpet in the middle; tile, engineered, hardwood, and stone higher. See our cost guide for the real drivers, then get a free estimate for an accurate figure.
Why do estimates vary so much between companies?
Usually because of what's included. A low bid that leaves out subfloor prep, moisture testing, tear-out, and transitions isn't cheaper — it just moves those costs to a change order later. We itemize the full scope so you're comparing like for like.
FAQ
Choosing a Floor
What's the most durable flooring for a busy household?
Luxury vinyl plank is hard to beat for a mix of durability, water resistance, and easy care in Idaho homes. Tile is even tougher in wet areas and entries, and engineered hardwood offers wood warmth with strong stability. We match the product to how each room is actually used.
What flooring is best for Idaho's dry winters?
Engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl handle our low winter humidity most gracefully. Solid hardwood is still a great choice but moves more with the seasons, so it wants proper acclimation and a whole-home humidifier.
Which floors work over concrete slabs or radiant heat?
Engineered hardwood, LVP, tile, and stone all perform well over slabs and radiant systems — tile and stone are especially good with radiant heat. Solid hardwood over slab or radiant is riskier here, so we usually steer toward engineered wood.
FAQ
Installation & Timeline
How long does installation take?
It depends on material, square footage, and prep. A single room can be a day or two; a whole-home hard-surface project runs longer, especially with tear-out, subfloor work, or wood acclimation. We give you a realistic timeline in the estimate and hold to it.
Do I need to move my furniture?
We handle the plan for it — for most projects we can move furniture as part of the job. We'll confirm what that looks like at the estimate so nothing is a surprise on start day.
What is acclimation and do I need it?
Acclimation is letting wood flooring adjust to your home's real temperature and humidity before install. In Idaho's dry winters it's essential for solid and engineered wood — skipping it is a leading cause of gaps and cupping. We build the time in.
Can you install over my existing floor?
Sometimes — if the existing floor is sound, flat, and appropriate to go over, it can save on tear-out. Often it's better to remove it. We assess honestly and tell you which situation you're in.
FAQ
